Austin's 2nd Birthday Party

I am finally getting around to posting pictures of my sweet little boy turning 2!! I can't believe it.
We had a race car themed party with the family this year and it turned out just perfect. I was all done with planning parties when it came time for his and it was just nice to have something more low-key.

Here is the cake that I slaved over for hours- literally. I had no idea it would take so long to make but thanks to my wonderful momma, we got it done and had a good time.

His cute little '2' shirt Cristina and I made him. I think I am going to make it a tradition for however long he lets me make his a birthday shirt...maybe 7 or 8?

His '1' shirt from his first birthday party. It's amazing how much they change in a year!

some food.... of course it was chips and queso but we also had chili and taco soup we served to everyone.

the birthday banner

it was superbowl Sunday too, so we had to have a football shaped cheeseball, right?

it funny how all the siblings end up at the same table with their spouses- I think we must love eachother.

singing Happy Birthday, he loved it.

I had practiced with him all week about his birthday song and showed him how to blow out a candle. At his party all the practicing paid off and he leaned over to blow out his candles all by himself- it was so cute.

his favorite present- the 'Cars' movie themed car set. He still says goodnight to them everynight.

Happy Birthday Austin! We love you soo much!

Had to Share

I saw this commercial about a week ago and made Nick watch it with me 3 more time, while I cried because I was laughing so hard. He said it was funnier to watch my reaction than the actual commercial...but I still think it is pretty dang funny. (remember to mute the music!)

Summer Fever

I walk through the mall and see all the new, cute summer clothes & just can't wait to start wearing the white pants/shorts, capris and super cute sandals. This year it looks like it is all about the navy, white and gray...which I am lovin'.
Picture from Banana Republic
I love this cardigan and the striped top- the pants, not so much.

Picture from Ann Taylor Loft
I think this whole outfit is just adorable. Have a mentioned that I am in love with cardigans? Can you tell?

I am really not the type of person to go out and buy super stylish clothes; I think it is just because I don't have that perfect body that can dress in anything. I like to stick to more simple basics...Cristina is nodding her head right now (cardigans go with everything!) but I will wear any stylish, bold, crazy shoe! Maybe it's because a shoe can look good on just about anyone! Here is my shoe wish list for this summer from my favorite website to shop at, Nine West.

Remember this shoe from my Christmas wish list- well Nick did get it for me but I returned it! I got 2 of the other shoes on that list for the same price! I am beginning to regret not having them....

and here is a great deal that I got today at Dillard's! Gianni Bini shoes normally $89 on sale for $26! (I always buy my shoes on sale/for a good deal, like the unfortunate Christmas return!)

So how much longer until I can wear my summer clothes.... Labor Day!?

Mom's 50th Birthday Bash

Cristina and I threw a 'zebra inspired' 50th birthday party for my mom and here are some of the pictures.

All photos are courtesy of Forrest Harris, a local Houston photographer.

Her invites

We had these little groupings around the room with different pictures and stories of things she had accomplished in her 50 years. We also wrapped presents to add the colors and a touch of zebra!

This was the table you saw from the front door

Her cake

My momma with the food table

It wouldn't be a Harris party without these 3 things...

I loved the little flags that I saw on P is for Party

Our struggling chocolate fountain... it still tasted good!

each of the kids got up and 'roasted' my mom with some of our favorite funny stories.

Happy Birthday!

The party was such a success and so much fun. Happy Birthday Mom, Love you!

Harris Family 2010 Pictures

While I wait for my brother to finish editing my mom's 50th party pics, here are our Harris family pictures that we took right after Christmas. They turned out great and the photographer was really fun- her name is Jennifer Rossi and here is her website.

I chose a few of my favorite shots and one of each couple...

My brother Forrest and his wife Sarah

My brother Houston and his wife Cristina

My half-brother Victor and his wife Michele, who came in town for the holidays- we are trying to convince them to join the party and move to Houston!

My cute parents Janet and Victor

Proud Nana and Pops with their grandbaby

The 50the party turned out so wonderful and I just can't wait to show off all the pictures that Forrest took- hopefully it won't be too much longer!!

My Baby Got some MOVES!

Here is a little video of Austin shakin' his groove thang! He actually has some pretty awesome "break-dance" moves that you catch a second of at the end...but my all time favorite move you will see right after the 20 second mark. Enjoy!

Zebra Inspired 50th!

I am down to my very last big party..for now, my Mom's 50th! Too bad my son's 2nd birthday party lands 3 weeks after it and I just don't have any juice left! The party planning is going great and I think Cristina and I will pull it off. Here is a peek at the invites that went out... the wording obviously is different than this one from paperstyle.com

and here are a few other inspiration pictures that we used for that party.

I thought these little toothpick flags were so adorable (just imagine it in zebra, fushia or plum!)

and I loved the idea of using presents to decorate the house, like the picture in the bottom left corner...

More picture to come after this weekend!

Here are a few cute pictures of my little TODDLER after church this Sunday.

isn't he just the sweetest thing ever!?
